This is a pretty decent option around the 17th street stretch for sushi. They have creative rolls, lots of raw fish options, and even cooked features and soups for those looking for Japanese food beyond just sushi. I also want to note that this gets an additional star from me for bring Japanese only, not the sushi/Thai variety that has popped up everywhere. They recently redecorated the interior making the inside of the restaurant feel a lot nicer for a night out. It's even great for a casual last minute sushi craving.

I was invited to lunch. I had not been to Tokyo Sushi in a number of years due to being rewarded with food poisoning. I asked my lunch mates if they had eaten there frequently, they said yes. So, I agreed to spin the barrel of the gun one more time.......and yes, I'm currently at home with a stomach issue. The place is dirty and the sushi is fishy......nuff said.

Stopped by for the first time for take out on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was packed, which is a good sign, but it was easy to get a waitress' attention to make a to go order. This is more of a sit down restaurant, but there was another couple waiting for take out while we were there, so they don't seem to mind. Since we were looking for something quick we stuck to the standard rolls from the back of the menu: JB, california, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna. They are quite small, but as they are from the cheapest side of their menu it is understandable. They have a huge selection of specialty rolls that we will come to try soon. All of the rolls were delicious. For me the star of sushi is the rice, and Tokyo Sushi's rice is perfect. Prices here range from average ($6 for JB roll) to extravagant ($20+ for some of the specialty rolls).

Very good sushi, fresh as it can be. And they have pretty good mix of creative sushi kinds we haven't seen before. The beef fried rice had chunks of beef cubes, delicious. However service is very bad, I already had buffet and was accompanying wife here, she order $20+, but we were ignored most of the time, missed items, while the waitress was eagerly helping others, and was a bit rude to us as she insisted to squeeze our beef fried rice into a tiny box after we told her it wouldn't fit.

THE WORST SUSHI I HAVE EVER HAD. I paid $27 for the spicy lobster roll and it was gross.

I ordered the house salad, $1.75, which was so good I had to ask for a fork to get every last piece of lettuce (which I couldn't get with the chop sticks.) I wanted to drink the dressing- really one of the best ginger dressings I've ever had. For the main course, I ordered the Holly Day roll, $13. The presentation was nice and it tasted even better. The tilapia tempura on top was hot and crispy... Delicious. The food came out fast and my waitress was polite, efficient and professional. The price was right. I'll be back.

Came here based on yelp reviews and all I can think is "are you sure you were at this Tokyo sushi??" It was terrible. Ordered spring roll and Mexican roll 1 to start and the spring rolls were legitimately the frozen rolls. Absolutely no way they were fresh. The inside was total mush that actually squirted out of the roll when you bite it. Assuming that was bc they were frozen then fried and the moisture was coming out. It was such a joke. I asked for Mexican roll with no masago and I receive it with masago and I say I ordered without the waitress says yeah I know. So why did you serve this to me if you knew he order was wrong? She came back with a new one that was rolled so poorly the inside of every single piece fell out if the roll when picked up. It was a total disaster and had no flavor. We didn't continue to order and left. From the moment we walked in the servers acted as if we were a burden to their empty restaurant. Do not waste your money, time or palate.

Easy sushi place with quick in/out service. I usually order: Spider rolls Chicken yakisaba Both are excellent as a meal or a quick snack.

Dined in once for lunch with co-workers and thought the sushi was mediocre, but thought the service wasn't bad. So I gave it another try with take out. Went to pick up my food and was told by a server to go to the back corner and wait. There was no hello, smile, nothing. OK, fine. Waited around a bit. A woman comes out from the kitchen while on the phone and hands me the check. No words came out of her. I paid. Waited awkwardly in front of a restaurant full of dining guests. She comes back to do the same, hands me the credit card slip and again no words come out of her. I paused, waited for her to bring me my food. She just points to a bag on a table about 5 feet across from us. I guess she wanted me to fetch for my food?? I left with my food. No goodbye nor thanks from anyone in the restaurant. So disgusted by these people. Then the food turned out to be just as bad. I paid over $24 for 2 rolls and they were tiny and had no flavor. Don't waste your hard earned money here.

Solid sushi at good prices. Not many veggie sushi options but their sweet potato and broccoli sushi roll was delicious. They do have a good portion of veggie appetizers. Get the tempura ice cream for dessert! Their green tea game is really weak though, tasted like hot water.

we love this place! it's our go to sushi place in the neighborhood. good quality sushi, the food is always fresh, and we love the servers and the guys behind the sushi bar. it's in a good location, very easy to spot from the road, and not far from the beach or downtown. good sushi, good service, reasonable prices.

Simple place but remember less is more! This is our favorite sushi in town. We love the yum yum roll and gyoza here. I like that the owner are usually there and are hand on. Great service always.

Low average at best. Rice had no flavor. Misco Soup had virtually nothing in it. Inside very old looking.

This place used to be good. Over the past few years it has gone down hill. The service is horrible and the sushi, just ok. Won't be going back here.

Wow, this is one extensive sushi menu! They did a great job putting our group's carryout order together carefully, separately and quickly (we placed our order on-site). I couldn't order anything too fancy, due to my myriad of food sensitivities, but filled up on a few tuna, salmon, and vegetable rolls and sashimi. And rice. All the rice. The sushi restaurant, settled into a strip plaza, has plenty of room to sit inside or out, and is nearby the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center. YES: gluten-free soy sauce is available! Also YES: they'll basically make anything you ask of them, if the ingredients are available. Also important: utensils and chopsticks and sauces and napkins all included in the bag! Two pairs of chopsticks, Tokyo Sushi. Tip: No discover cards!

I used to frequent Tokyo Sushi a few years ago--now, not so much; however, I recently returned to have a beef yakisoba for lunch. It was pretty good, albeit nothing to write home about. I had the lunch special deal that came with a miso soup. Service was prompt, so it's a good place to come for lunch if you really want to be in and out within an hour (I'd say I was in and out in 35 min. or so!)

I am spoiled being from SF but gad this was lousy sushi. No one Japanese behind sushi counter. I had the sample of tuna hamachi and salmon. After four pieces I threw the rest out. I would neither recommend or go back.

I've been eating here for years, but decided today was my last time. A cockroach crawled up the wall and onto the booth cushions next to my mother. Waitress brought out a napkin to kill it in front of us then refused to discount our meal. She had attitude and lost a loyal customer. In terms of food, sushi menu is very limited and almost half are no rice rolls. Ramen is terrible. Bento boxes will fill you up, but the meat used in the teriyaki is cheap, only 2 shrimp tempuras are given, and the grade quality of the sashimi is obviously poorer than regular ordered sashimi. In terms of service, going during lunch hour is not ideal. The bento boxes are made and served all at once so whether or not you were seated before another party you will have to wait until all the bento box orders are completed. Take out is very quick, but why pay for Tokyo Sushi when Sushi One Takeout is an option? Native to Fort Lauderdale and the unarguable consensus is that sushi one has the cheapest and best sushi around. Overall, this is the type of restaurant that seems great to those who do not know what "great" Japanese is. Publix quality sushi for twice as much. Decent ambiance but service and food quality is plummeting. Sad to see a local business suffer

I believe this place is one of the worst sushi restaurants that I've ever eaten (I've been to hundreds, including in Japan). I was nice in giving it one star because the salmon was kind of fresh and the Orange slices were delicious. When I walked in for lunch, it was more than half empty but yet the servers were rushing all of the customers. They even tried to take my Benito box away before I was finished. As for the food itself, there was WAY TOO MUCH ginger dressing for the salad, the tempura was exceedingly greasy, and the beef tempura tasted sour. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.

I absolutely love Tokyo sushi. Between 2004-2008 I came here once a week at least. So much that the staff knew me and my friends by name. 8 years later, I am visiting from CA with my family and the chefs and servers STILL remembered me. I couldn't be more pleased with the service. As for the sushi, I eat sashimi and nigiri and I think the fish tastes delicious. The kitty roll is amazing, and the jb tempura roll is finally an on-menu item! That's salmon and cream cheese roll, tempura fried. If I had one suggestion, it would be to limit the amount of smoking that is permitted in outdoor seating. Nasty ass old people smoking Virginia Slims outside the only entrance like they're just anxious to die. Not what I wanted to walk my infant through!

The place had your typical strip-mall ambiance, and the food is okay at best. Although the service was good, the interior just didn't seem clean.

I have eaten here for years. I used to love it but then noticed that their service was going downhill, the prices were going up, and the food was the same as always. They have good basic rolls but the menu never changes. There are better places out there but Tokyo is good for a quick bite.

I love this place. You can't go wrong with either the appetizer, lunch and/or dinner. During my first visit here for a work meeting lunch I decided to order the Miami Heat roll. After realizing the food was just that great, I decided to return during later hours and ordered Miami heat, dragon and shrimp tempura rolls along with the salmon with fried rice entree. All of the above was yummy. Note: It was lots of food for four person meal. The service was great and very attentive. My waitress als o introduced me to the cucumber drink. Perfect dinning lunch, dinner or happy hour.

Came in from the rain the other day for some Ramen Soup here (sans the crab meat, since I spotted in the description that it was artificial). My server was lovely and very prompt and polite. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed--perfect for my much-needed lunch break. The Ramen was fair; I look forward to trying the sushi here some time instead.

I'm a sushi lover so I decided to give this place a whirl. Food was great, nothing crazy special about it- but a simple thing done right can be magical. On the other hand, the service was not that great. I came in for a late lunch around 2pm and sat at the sushi bar. No one greeted me upon arrival and they were not busy (all of two tables were sat) then after a min or two a server came and literally slammed a menu down in front of me. She then said "drink?" I ordered a water and mentally prepared for the impressive service I was about to receive. While I was reading the menu (an all of 5 minutes) she came to me three times and said "u know what u want?" Politely, I said "not yet" then when I was ready to order she finally came over and I ordered. My food came out and it looked and tasted delish! And she came right over and dropped the check just as soon as she dropped off my food. No "how's the food?" "Would you like anything else?" NADA!!!! So much for me ordering any other rolls or tea or dessert.... And promptly she was gone and never came back until I put my card down when I was finished eating. Overall, the atmosphere is nice, the food is good, but the service is horrible! I'll be sticking to my regular sushi places unless I'm deciding on take out in the 17th street neighborhood.

Tokyo Sushi is one of those standard sushi places that you can go in for a quick bite at lunch or dinner time. Overall, it wasn't bad, but there isn't anything special about this place either. The inside of the restaurant is clean and cool, and the sushi was good and overall made really well. Some of the pieces of fish seemed to have that stringy fat where it made it a bit hard to chew, and therefore lost the melt in your mouth sushi experience that I love. A little disappointing. Additionally, the salad was overloaded with dressing. Nothing about my experience would prevent me from going again, for a quick bite, so if you're looking for sushi that's convenient and reasonably priced, this might be the place for you.

You need to come to Boston and taste real Sushi....,,,this food was crap. Sushi is suppose to be pretty as well as tasty. I ordered Naruto with Hamachi and it arrived floating in vinegar...disgusting.

We went to this place spontaneous and quite late. Still we were treated friendly and polite. The ambience inside is fine and I think it's pretty cool that you can see the cooks preparing the sushi by the bar. Everything we got was really good and tasted fresh. Sashimi miso soup and so on. Would so come back if I could!

Great Sushi joint - we had the 9 piece tuna sashimi ((Excellent) The Rob Roll (Good) and the Trudy Roll (Great) - I was very please with the freshness of all the fish and I really enjoyed the Trudy roll, it was wrapped cucumber instead of rice - very healthy and refreshing! if I lived nearby I'd be here more often!

My husband and I tried Tokyo Sushi this evening and I loved it. The restaurant itself is in a retail center with a handful of other shops and restaurants but offers outdoor seating. The inside is small and cozy which is what I like. I ordered the green tea to drink and it came hot and steeped. Tonight's meal was all about having an inexpensive weeknight sushi dinner which is exactly what we achieved. We started with the miso soup which was delicious, generous with the tofu, and only $1.75 for a serving! Next, we tried the sweet potato broccoli roll, California roll, and spicy tuna roll. I could have eaten 3 of the sweet potato broccoli rolls they were so good. They had a little crunch of tempura flakes in the middle that added to the texture. All were fresh and came with the standard 6-8 pieces. The specialty rolls on the menu looked great but I wanted something lighter so this definitely hit the spot. The server was friendly and attentive which made for a great experience so we will definitely go back.

Another great new find, courtesy of Groupon! Went in for lunch during peak hours on a Wednesday. Only 2-3 other tables in there, which is usually a bad sign, but this was not the case. Service was excellent, kept our drinks full and everyone was very pleasant and attentive. We were asked right away if we had a Groupon (I'm guessing many others did since it was the last day before expiration), but that didn't seem to change the level of service at all. As for the food, everything was super fresh, high quality, and delicious. The miso soup is a stronger variety, dark brown to red, and although it lacked seaweed it was nice and salty and rich. We ordered a sashimi appetizer which had 9 thick slices of some of the freshest salmon, escolar and tuna I've ever had. The color of the tuna was amazing and everything was melt-in-your-mouth. The price was extremely reasonable too, $10 for the whole thing, about $1 a slice that was 2" long and nearly 3/4" thick. The sunomono salad was a bit different from what I've had before, but in a good way. We asked for no cucumber and a mix of salmon and tuna. We got a nice nest of fish "noodles" sliced sort of like bell peppers in fajitas. They were nicely flavored with a tangy vinegar. The baby octopus appetizer was wonderfully tender and had a nice sweet heat to it. The crispy spicy wings were cooked excellently, super crunchy outside but tender and moist inside. Unfortunately, the spicy sauce was not spicy, but we're spice experts and pack our own habanero dust, so we fixed that. All of that - 3 fish appetizers and a meat appetizer plus a miso soup and 2 iced green teas - $40. We left satisfied and happy to have found another local reasonably priced, ultra fresh sushi place. Will definitely come back again!

I live in Fort Lauderdale and I LIVE for good sushi. I've tried many places around the area and Tokyo is my favorite. Their Spicy Lobster roll is the BEST. Holly Day Roll.. Also amazing. Don't miss out on this place, they are authentic, affordable, and delicious!

I've only been to Tokyo Sushi for lunch and I love it! They have a little patio area outside which is perfect if the weather is good. I always get the Robbie roll since its so yummy. One note: it comes with seaweed on the outside and it doesn't say that on the menu. I order it rice on the outside. The fish is always fresh and they put a lot of meat in the rolls. The service is a little slow but I've always gone for a relaxing lunch so it's been ok. I'll be back :)

For Florida standard 5 star for the food. But for LA standard 3 1/2 star. The restaurant wasn't bad at all, they had uni from Mendocino, wahoo and other fish from FL coast that doesn't exist in CA, I really enjoyed the sushi. Definitely try the specials on the chalk board.

I live right down the street so I jog here for a dinner. You can eat inside or out. I usually get the stir fried vegetables with fried rice and salad. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out fast. I lived for 33 years in Los Angeles so I am use to some of the best Japanese restaurants. So thinking that I have to say the food is good, hot, and tasty. Is it the best I had , NO Is it the worst NO. I have been here five times and plan to return soon. ***** UPDATE NO IT IS not California nor is it Tokyo so coming to Ft Lauderdale one should expect good food but being judgemental one should stay where one is happy. As I stated, the food, the service and the prices are good.

  • Pam H.

This place was inconsistent, from the service to the food quality. I ordered the ramen soup, but it tasted more like instant noodles, the broth was nothing special at all. I don't think that's how ramen is suppose to taste like - at least traditionally. Likewise with various rolls we got, the only standout roll was the Chaka roll - surprise crispness and spice, a mix of textures. The tempura udon was better than the ramen, however the mushroom broth was satisfying as were the mushroom pieces in it. There should have been more mushroom slices! Admittedly, the broth was a tinge on the salty side.

Sushi is tasty but restaurant keeps getting dirtier. Kitchen looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a year. Place is losing customers because at times it smells like a dirty mop. If they clean it, I may return again as a customer.

  • Nevik E.

Note: On Yelp I review exclusively sushi bars. If you live nearby, this is OK for an average sushi fix. The decor is a little worn and the bar nothing special. The fish quality is average, and the selection of cuts are limited to the standards. The chef, owner, and staff were very friendly and courteous, however, the chef's skill was not that impressive. I would not travel to visit this place.

  • Niniane W.

I think that whoever votes this sushi five stars may not have eaten great sushi before. The sushi here was reasonably fresh, but the Dream Roll was $10 for a small amount of fish, and the California roll uses large chunks of imitation crab. The udon was very good though. The restaurant is more like 3.3 stars, but I have to round down.

We had the Kitty and Crazy rolls ($10ish each) as well as miso soup ($2.5). The soup was simple and tasty, though too much seaweed in my opinion. The rolls were a little bland. Actually, really bland. The kitty roll had cream cheese in the middle, so that was obviously an intentionally mellow flavor but the crazy roll you'd think would be spicy and it wasn't in the least bit. Service was fine, even though it was a busy night we were seated quickly. The waitress was polite though not all that personable. Oh, and to the boy's disappointment the sodas are not fountain, but canned so no free refills.

Food is great, prices are great, and service is fast, however I ALWAYS get stuck with the same, rude waitress- she practically, if not definitely, rolls her eyes when you're not ready to order and/or don't get out of there fast enough (and we don't even linger). For that I give it a 3 instead of a 5 : (

Do NOT order ramen soup! It doesnt taste like the instant ramen you can find in supermarket with 20 cents. It IS the 20 cents instant ramen.

DO NOT COME HERE. From California, we made a stop here as we were staying at the hotel across the street. 3 friends and myself went to check this little place out as we were craving some Japanese food after having eaten Western food for a week on vacation. Here's the terrible experience we had: We walk in, and the two waitresses are just sitting at the table chatting it up with each other. We get seated by one of them, and we order 3 rolls, Ramen Soup, and Udon Noodles. As we are ordering, the waitress just seemed like she did not want to be there. Her facial expressions to her tone of voice just screamed 'boredom' or 'I don't want to be here'. I don't understand why either, as all 4 of us were being very polite. We get the orders in and the rolls are made pretty quickly. However, the waitresses still are just sitting at the tables and not paying attention to anything. NOTE: This is lunch time and there are only 2 tables including us. The rolls are finished by the chefs and they are just left sitting on the counter for 10 minutes. I don't know whether it was because they were lazy, or because they wanted to get all the food out at once. FOOD QUALITY: 1. Rolls: They were okay, below average, but bearable because we were so hungry. 2. Ramen soup: STAY AWAY FROM THIS. The moment I took a bite in, I realized IMMEDIATELY they had simply used two cups of "Cup Noodles" (Yes, you know the one, the $1 Cup Noodles, literally), they chopped up a small chicken steak (which was clearly frozen, as it was hard to chew on), and they threw in some vegetables. The soup was incredibly bland as it was obviously just boiling water with the addition of Cup Noodles. 3. Udon Noodles: Do not order either. The udon tasted like rubber. Don't know much else to say about it. As we got our check, my friend told the waitress "The noodles were kind of gross." (As politely as possible). And the waitress literally did not respond and just walks away with this disgusted look on her face. So we reluctantly ate the food, and got the check. My cousin (she is meaner than I am), decided to leave a tip of 5 cents. As all 3 of my party left, I was left behind as I sat there, taking out some cash to tip a bit more (though I honestly felt they deserved none). I left $2 on the $65 bill and left. This is by far the least I've ever left, and it was well-deserved. You should've seen the look on her face though. It was beet-red from anger. Well-deserved. I don't think she can possibly expect more from the terrible ambiance, food, and service.

I give it a 3 only because my wife said her sushi was good. I ordered Steak & Chicken teriyaki . It came with vegetable fried rice, bean sprouts and a little piece if raw broccoli. A small piece of thin, flat tough steak and a flattened piece of chicken breast on top of the sprouts and a small amount of some kind of brown sauce (no teriyaki taste at all) over the top. I have had better teriyaki meals at mall food courts. We were there when they opened at 5 pm and by the time we left they were getting busy. The server had to be called back for anything we needed but never came back on her own. Finding this place quite pricey and not being a fan of sushi, I have no reason to go back.

Freshest fish; creative, delicious sushi rolls, beautifully presented; incredibly reasonable prices; generous portions; ample free parking. So who cares if the decor is plain or the servers are sometimes only okay? I have always enjoyed every meal at Tokyo Sushi. It is my first choice in Broward County for sushi. I take all my out-of-town guests here. Try the Chuka Ika appetizer and the Mexican 2 Roll. You'll be back!

I have been going here for over a decade. The service really depends on the server you get for the night. I have eaten at many sushi places and I always come back here. Love the rainbow roll, miami dolphin roll and several others! Edited: I just went there last Tues and the Rainbow roll is gone! Again, the first waitress we had we felt like she was rushing us out and the tables weren't even full. I got the miami dolphin roll and both me and my friend I shared some with got a tiny allergic reaction and our throats got a little itchy. I don't know what was in it that night but it was different from normal. We also had a few other rolls that were excellent, so altogether it was pretty good. Just not as good as usual.

Not too impressed. Just to start off the service was not good. Granted they were slammed but they also weren't handing it very well. Aggressive attitude and it seemed like they wanted you in and out pretty quickly. I ordered the teriyaki chicken. It came with fish. I could hardly find any chicken in the salad. The fish was tasty. It was fresh and didn't have that yucky fishy flavor I don't like. I had iced tea and they left a whole pitcher on the table for re-fills. This was nice. I am sure there are better places out there though. Probably won't be back.

Went there with my daughter. We had one spider roll one Mexican. She charged me for three rolls and acted like it was a mistake. Plus to top it off the food was crap. I've had. bettter in tiny strip malls. Also the table was greasy and the table next to us had a dirty rag sitting there during our meal. The waitress was rude too never once checked on us, and her tip reflected that. She looked like a female sumo wrestler.

Fresh quality sushi, relaxed casual atmosphere, good service My new favorite sushi spot. It has a casual atmosphere, outside eating area, and there is never a wait. More of a local spot that is less trendy than a Sushi Rock or its neighbor Coco. Some of our favorites are the Kitty Roll (JB Topped with avocado and tuna) or the cucumber rolls. The Virginia Roll offers a combination of two of their best cucumber rolls.

came here on a monday night with dinner with one of my friends. the place filled up throughout the evening so we felt good about making this choice for dinner. plus.. we didn't know where the thai place was that we were looking for originally lol. our server came by immediately to take our drink orders. i got water and my friend ordered the iced green tea. it came with the whole pitcher which i thought was cool. we started off with the pork and vegetable spring rolls. it came with a sweet soy sauce. at least i think it was? anyhoo.. it was hot and crispy and pretty darn good! the kitchen items such as the teryaki or the tempura does not come with rice. it's $1.50 for rice. i guess i'm used to places that serve complimentary rice so i opted for a roll. i just realized i forgot the roll name but it was basically their version of the rainbow roll. it was just okay. i finished it because i was starving. my friend got the crazy roll and the spicy tuna roll. when i tried hers i instantly regretted not getting something else. lol. the crazy roll is one of their most popular rolls. i wish i remembered what was inside.. i just remember it was deep fried. yum! the spicy tuna was just a tuna roll with hot sauce inside. but it was still good. dinner came to $37 (without tip) for 2 people. for the little amount of food we got i think it was on the pricier side. i'd come back for the spring rolls and the crazy roll. but the next time i'm in the area i think i will explore other options before revisiting any places.

With the blasting smell of a fish tank coming from the sushi bar upon walking in, I immediately had reservations about eating here. So what did I do, I naturally ordered a sashimi salad. It was fine. Nothing great. I don't know if I would return here...it seems like Sushi places are everywhere, and I didn't find this meal to be worthy of a return visit.

I also accidentally ran into this restaurant first night arr. It was packed with people, but, service was pretty good and food were very fresh. I like the place. When I go back to Ft. L. I will for sure visit them again.

I don't really understand why there are so many negative reviews for this restaurant. When I went with a group of 4 a few weeks ago we had a lovely experience. All of the food was good and seemed fresh, plus there was no fishy smell at all in the entire restaurant. I was a little wary at first of sitting right by the bathroom, but the semi-enclosed both turned out to be quite nice. The miso soup, seaweed salad and shrimp & vegetable tempura appetizers were pretty standard in a good way and I enjoyed the Japanese Village Roll. The batter on the tempura ice cream was a bit weird. All in all, it was a nice dinner and I would definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood.

I am sorry. But 4-5 stars? I don't think this place is deserving or such a rating. I'll describe my experience... I walked here from the Hilton Marina down the street. It wasn't too bad of a walk. I understand there aren't many Asian people in Florida. So I understand there can be some "favoritism" when my coworker (who is japanese/filipino) and I walk into a Japanese restaurant. It may be 2010, but I'm being honest here. So when people say their service took too long, it didn't for us. In fact, we ordered quickly, and got our food within 7 minutes of the time we sat down. No, I'm not joking. However I was starving when I was ordering, and I made a remark that I'll be spending more money that I should because of my hunger. The waitress heard me and actually encouraged me, telling me something to the likes of "old money new year be happy something something something" I asked her a specific question about the rolls: "how many pieces come in the rolls?" Her answer? "Eight to ten." Fine. "I'll take a spider roll, and also a nabeyaki udon." She then asks back, "you're Chinese, aren't you?" and looks at my coworker. I blurt out "well I am..." (assuming she wasn't talking to me) and then she makes this face like I'm stupid and duh she was talking to me because I'm the one who obviously is Chinese. Why would you look at my coworker when asking a question to me? She said she knew because Chinese people like noodles and they always order udon. I'm sure she has some validation to that comment after all she is the waitress there, but I think it was unnecessary. Anyways, when I got my roll it only had 5 pieces. I asked if that was correct, and the waitress said it was. In fact, she told me it's the only roll on the page of 20+ rolls that DOESN'T have 8-10. Then I complained that she should have TOLD ME that the spider roll only has 5 pieces. She asked if I wanted more pieces, and I said no, because I knew she would charge me for more. This instantly changed the relationship as she instantly got pissed off at our table and never made eye contact and never came back around. In fact, she even stole 2 unused plates from our table and gave them to another party that just walked in. Yes we may not be using them, but don't just take them. To summarize, the food here is decent, but it's not worth the experience. If you think you'll be an exception and get good service, you're wrong. Just avoid this place.

Pretty darn good for where we are! Staying at a nearby hotel, just getting sick of hamburgers and fries from the restaurant bar. We needed an alternative. The sushi here is well made, somewhat inspired, good value. The decor could use a little sprucing up....

Why does Yelp force a star rating? If they allowed negative stars, I would give'm here. Today was both a reminder why I haven't come here in a long time after the first visit, and a stamp on why I never will again. The list is endless from the smell to service. Watching a waitress spilling soup as she brought it to the table made me think two things: 1. That might not happen if you used a serving tray rather than holding bowls with your bare thumb in it & 2. I wonder if anyone wears gloves. Answer? No. Not even sushi chefs visible out front. If they care that little for up front, I don't even want to imagine in back. This all on top of still cutting sushi incorrectly and ahead of time instead of to order. And, the smell? Oh, the smell. No. No. No. Caution! Abort! Avoid like the plague. Or you might just end up with one.

The Applebee's of sushi restaurants. The sushi was reliably tasty. It was priced rather high though. The menu offers the standard sushi fare without the more eclectic creations of other establishments. It struck me as a family-run place, with many women serving and an elderly patriarch overseeing the circus. The atmosphere is so casual it could be your own kitchen at home. There are several seating options. You can sit outdoors in the parking lot overlooking 1A. Or in the main room under pop music and football on the flatscreen. Or in a booth by the kitchen and restrooms, where a blended aroma of dirty dishes, smoke breaks, and urinal cubes accompanies your meal. Add a star for our lovely server and the bowl of fresh oranges that came with our check.

Well who ever mentioned to me that the service was terrible well that is a fact. I think I read it on a Yelp review. We sat down and it was a good 20 minutes to get a order taken, We had a variety of food the garlic steak was good. I had the Sushi plate which was just OK. I am from Northern Calif. and I know Sushi before sushi was even cool. This place I had higher hopes for but was ultimatly disappointed. No one else had sushi and as long as you did not get sushi the meal was good. The beer only comes in 16 ounce or less bottles NO LARGE ASAHI'S Going there for sushi only would be a mistake. 3 stars is a generous rating for this place.

Surprisingly good. Sushi was fresh, and service was quick. Ordered the Mexican 2 roll (sweet topping, tasted like a Hawaiian fruit salad), Crazy roll (deep fried, by far the best), and Las Olas roll (least interesting of the 3, but still tasty). Hate the location (in a strip mall), but once inside you'll quickly forget bc of the Japanese decor. Pricing is reasonable and portions are nice. Spent $50 with tax + tip for 2 ppl, Would've spent $100+ back in DC, so to me, this is a steal.

Went there for date night on 03/22/13 with my fiancé as we just moved in the neighborhood and were excited to try this place. First of all service was horrible. Our waitress Gigi, never introduced herself to us and had to ask another waitress for her name. She was unfriendly with no smile. Sushi was just ok. And the edamames were barely warm not so fresh.

I have eaten sushi all over so giving this a 1 means i cant say abything good. The waitress sat us at a booth nxt to the kitchen and where they dump dirty plates. Already terrible. As for the food, my salad was too watered down, then when my sushi came the salmon had a huge bone in it and smelt very fishy. When opening the roll I noticed part of the sushi was grey. The other people in my party had shrimp teriyaki, both barely touched it. The shrimp wasn't cooked right and the fried rice tasted of only pepper. Also the veggies were cold. The only good thing was giorgios pizza next door.

Service is good, but sushi is sub par. Cost vs quality is practically nil. I ordered the Mexican 1 Roll (normally called a Mexican Roll) without spicy mayo. All it ended up being was a piece of shrimp surrounded by lettuce, plus it was poorly wrapped. $10 for that is a rip off.

I found this joint in a strip mall. The sushi isn't very fresh, the servers were borderline rude, but the sushi chefs were friendly. I would not eat here again. The prices were also a little high for the class of food served. Skip it if you have decent sushi where you live, because this isn't worth it.

Pretty decent sushi. Ordered the matsu (tuna roll and 9 pieces sushi). Comes with soup and salad. Pretty standard line up for he nigiri. Nigiri was fresh and good. Tuna roll left a little to be desired for. Soup and salad were good as well as service. All in with a Kirin light was $20. Ain't bad for a bunch of sushi. Oranges to cleanse the palate were a nice finishing touch. Good stuff!

Sat at the bar on Valentine's Day. Awesome service...nigiri was nice and fatty, ordered the Japanese Village roll (yeah, I know) but it was pretty awesome!! Sushi chefs were helpful and friendly. I had some sake (not the warm crap) and I was quite pleased. It was a nice, solo Valentine's Day (I missed my baby who was at home) with my sushi and sake. :)

Came to Ft. Lauderdale for a convention event which happened to have terrible food and this little sushi spot was my saving grace. Fish was very good quality. I especially enjoyed the wahoo nigiri and while the chefs were not overtly friendly they took their work seriously and even got creative on me when I asked them to show me their special rolls. The waitress, an adorable and sassy Korean lady, was awesome and made me feel right at home. Fun, fast and fresh, this may not be the most gourmet sushi around (I did not have a car so was confined to walking distance from the conference) but definitely a great alternative to the convention center meal plan which should be avoided if possible.

Above average sushi, fine service, and fair lunch prices. While this place needs a decor makeover (it's old and plain), I'd return for lunch the next time I am in the area. Yes, there are better places for sushi; but for a quick bite it's a solid choice.

Quite a few customers were there but we got seated inside immediately. There are tables outside but it's way to hot to sit outside. I had my usual miso soup and coca cola with a slice of lemon. But the Spider Roll is my favorite. My boyfriend Danny had the Seafood salad with his usual sushi combination. For dessert we had the tempura banana, 2 thumbs up for this place!!!

Place was the definition of below average. The waitress was downright rude to my girlfriend when she asked a question about one of the sushi rolls. Pretty unfriendly overall I'd say. The food all came a full 10 mins before we got our appetizer of shrimp dumplings which were bland and tasteless. The sushi was loose and fell apart. Miso soup was average. Ginger salad was ok. Overall, would not go back. There are better sushi places in th area like Asia Bay, Sushi Rock, and Thai on the Beach. 2 stars is gracious.

i thought this place was good. i was pleasantly surprised. americanized sushi joint, but still yummy. the grilled hamachi was a bit dry in my opinion, but others at the table seemed to like it. the grilled squid was chewy and yummy. the lobster roll was very GOOD and different. there was also a tuna tartar dish, which tasted like spicy tuna w/out the rice/seaweed. i don't remember the other dishes. the sushi dude gave each of us a small bowl of tuna/seaweed mix - nice gesture, but it was way too salty. but agin, very nice of him! thanks! i think our total bill was 36 dollars for 2? (table of 5). i would go back if i was ever in the neighborhood again.

Decidely mediocre. The place smelled fishy, which is never a good sign. The fish didn't seem very fresh, the spicy tuna roll was overly sauced (and that sauce was vinegary), and the ginger seemed really old. The eel was OK, but I've had so much better sushi. For the price, it wasn't really worth it. At least they had Asahi.

Went for dinner while in town for a cruise. Great sushi. We had a salmon roll, holly day roll, miso and the itame-mono dinner with beef. Service was great, food excellent and an easy walk from the Renaissance

I visit Tokyo Sushi often, and their K-Roll is a great start to a meal. The best value on the menu is their ramen, a giant bowl of ramen with grilled chicken, crab stick, shrimp, spinach and green onions in a clear chicken broth... it's great to warm you up on a cold winter night or whenever you're sick and need a comforting soup.

We ordered the Las Olas roll and the sashimi bento box. The fish was just ok, not the freshest we've ever had. The ginger was dry. The shrimp/veggie tempura didn't have much taste and was too bready. We weren't even done eating yet and they put the bill on the table already. They even added a 16% gratuity to the bill. I've never been to any sushi restaurant that adds a gratuity to the bill or serves dry ginger so -1 star for that.

This used to be my favorite sushi place when in FLL, but that honor goes to Sushi Rock now (see my review on SR). It deserves 2.5 stars not 2 but there is no way to do that here on Yelp! The place is decent, sushi is fresh and a decent selection of cold sake. What I don't like is the lack of authenticity. Sushi chefs are all Hispanic and friendly. Too much rice of mediocre quality on the sushi. Appetizers are below average. I ordered a tempura shrimp app with ginger and soy glaze...it was just poorly fried shrimp with a hastily prepared sauce. That being said, the fish was fresh and they had some locally caught sushi on the menu. But for the same approximate price you can go to Sushi Rock, why wouldn't you? The only answer is the crowds at Sushi Rock...
